Create and manage end-user licenses in the cloud, and authenticate them within your apps using simple HTTPS requests. Whether you’re coding for desktop, mobile, or even a WordPress plugin, LicenseCloud gives you the freedom to focus on your app and its features without worrying about having to build and deploy your own license server.
No SDK’s. No Custom Libraries. Just HTTP.
Make a simple GET request using HTTP, and our API will return the data in your choice of XML or JSON. You can create, activate, validate, and manage your licenses without the need for custom libraries or complicated SDK’s.
It’s Always Up
LicenseCloud offers an industry-leading 100% uptime guarantee. Our infrastructure is cloud-hosted and deployed across geo-redundant servers, leveraging Amazon AWS, Windows Azure, and Google networks simultaneously.
Track Your App’s Usage
Ever wonder how often customers are using your software or where they’re running it from? We already know. Every time your app validate the user’s license in the LicenceCloud API, we log the timestamp and IP address of the request. You can see this data for an individual user, individual app, or summarized and aggregated across all of your products and customers.
Easily Deploy Updates
Don’t worry about having to build and maintain your own update server, we’ve got you covered. Whenever a license is validated, the API response also includes the most current version information and direct download link. If the version the user is running is older, you can notify them of the new version or even force an update. It’s up to you.
Prevent users from “sharing” your app with device activation limits and encryption. Every individual license can have an activation limit, letting you control how many devices your software can be installed on, and you can store decryption keys in our API to render your software useless to anyone who tries to bypass the validation process.
LicenseCloud licenses can have a preset expiration date, which you can use a number of different ways. Use the expiration to indicate when a trial period has ended, how long a user is allowed to download updates, or any other reason. Since the license data is stored server side, users who try to change their system date to extend their trials won’t fool us.
Integrate with Payment Processors and Shopping Carts
With our API, you can configure your checkout script to automatically create an individual license for a user at the time of purchase. A lot of major payment processors already support LicenseCloud; if yours doesn’t, that’s OK, you can implement our API fairly easily using simple HTTPS requests.
In the old days, license validation was based purely on algorithms – which could be easily cracked! Today, with most devices being Internet-connected, LicenseCloud customers are using our API to manage licenses and protect their desktop software, mobile apps, WordPress plugins, and more. We even have customers who’ve built out complete membership sites to secure online content so it can only be accessed with a valid key.
